Chartreuse de Valbonne

Welcome to the Chartreuse de Valbonne

Set in the heart of a magnificent thousand-year-old forest, the Chartreuse de Valbonne, historic monument dating from the 13th century , is located between the gorges of the Ardeche and the Ceze river valley. The site offers, in an exceptional environment, hotel-seminar services, concerts, and a complete range of Côtes du Rhone wines.

A nationally recognized non-profit association now manages this monastery, which has always had a calling for hospitality, solidarity and sharing.

The monastery

Founded in 1204, the Carthusian monastery of Valbonne is located at the heart of an exceptional forest in the Provence hills. Up until 1901 a community of monks lived in this monastery, following the rules of Saint Bruno.

From the Conventual Church to the Chapel of Relics, through the Small Cloister, 13th century, to the Grand Cloister, 350 m, and after a visit to a monk's cell, one can imagine the life of the Carthusian Order within the site, and discover their universe of silence and solitude.
