La Cartuja de Valbonne

 

Un monasterio que es monumento histórico, una asociación, un sitio productor de vinos « Côtes du Rhône », alojamientos turísticos, tanto como un sitio cultural. La Cartuja de Valbonne era un monasterio de monjes ermitos de la Orden de los Cartujos ; el edificio ocupa una grande superficie. Fundado en 1203*, está situado en un valle, en medio de un bosque milenario en él que se encuentran esencias naturales escasas en la zona mediterránea. La Cartuja se encuentra en la comunidad de aglomeraciones del Gard Rhodanien, en el departamento del Gard, en la región Occitania.

Se compone de una iglesia conventual, de un gran claustro (355 metros de perímetro) de un claustrillo ( principios del siglo XIII), y de muchas capillas. Varias torres, el tejado de la iglesia conventual y también su campanario son cubiertos con azulejos barnizados y tintados típicos del estilo burguignon. El conjunto le da a la Cartuja provenzal un aspecto de los más típico.

*1203 en el calendario juliano. Esta fecha se convirtió en 1204 después del adopto del calendario gregorio a finales del siglo XVI : entonces el año empezará el 1er de enero y ya no el 1er de marzo.
